kodie

What is Kodie’s Kushion, and how did I choose the name?

My name is DeAngela Braden, proud mother of Kodie Franklin, a remarkable 15-year-old on the autism spectrum. Kodie was diagnosed at four, and our journey has been filled with challenges and joys. Watching him struggle with social interactions is heartbreaking, but seeing his happiness when connecting with peers inspires me.

Recognizing the lack of programs for teens with special needs to build social confidence, I founded Kodie’s Kushion Foundation, dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities for neurodivergent children and their families. Our mission is to host free events, outings, and support programs to foster connection and ease financial burdens.

Parenting a special-needs child can be isolating and overwhelming, so we aim to provide both resources and a supportive community. Thank you for supporting us as we work to empower neurodivergent children to thrive.
